New from the BIG US of A

HI there

I have not written on my blog for ages. No reason at all. I have been working quite a lot which is wonderful. So where do I start. Firstly I miss all the special people in my life so much. I miss having my dad here with us plying and racing all over the US of A. Our hearts are close to you all. GP we had frozen yoghurt today and you were missed.

My home is here from South Africa and what a journey. I still feel sorry for Leon's dad making the long haul. My mom had a bad time with the snow in London. Hey Ho she is here now and we are all having fun.

My mom bought false eyelashes for the kids to wear as a present. Kara was in her element, fluttering the lashes. Victoria was bouncing off the walls somewhere.

We have been driving around and my mom is amazed everything is wooden. This house about 2.5 million is all wooden. Beautiful but huge amounts of maintenance

Yes the trolley holder for the Starbucks. Still amazed at how most Americans walk around with a coffee. There is a starbucks in the local grocery store.

I have even seen an American sipping coffee in church. Another time in church I saw a lady using her iPad. Hey Ho you just have to laugh. I suppose you have to do what you have to do. I did have a laugh. Gotta keep the sense of humor going.

Victoria's class have a mystery reader once a week. My turn, so the kids had to have a South African story. Its quite scary reading in front of a the small people. Very cute though

Leon was desperate to get back on the slopes. I am such a girl and find the whole ski thing quite scary. Total lack of control and pizza down the bloody hill, with loads of prayers. If there was cross country skiing I would do that. Nice to be out and about in the crisp cold air. I got Les, my mom on the ski slopes. What a good sport and my mom did wonderfully. We booked her in a lesson which was a great thing and Les was zooming down the bunny slopes. A great day out.

We had our international night at a Hibachi restaurant, which was very noisy but a good laugh.

Mandy what do you think of my dining room table? I can tell you a few years ago I would never have dreamed of letting the kids cookie cut on my Wetherlys table. How things change. Well we had a Valentines cookie making afternoon. Karina and Tracy joined us.

Like I have said before every town has its Croc or Billy's. We have our Black Duck. Greg the music was amazing. They had a blues band playing. We were all tapping the toes and shaking the finger. Martin and Melissa we will have to take you there. Close your eyes though.

Got Les whipping around the driveway on my scooter. My mom wants to drive the car on the wrong side of the road. A bit nervous.

Special times with Caroline and Harold

Kara was not doing any sport and I was right young lady I will choose. Kicking and screaming we trotted off to gymnastic. 6 weeks later with loads of positive determination Kara is now doing back flips.  Feel so proud of her and she feel so fantastic.

Holiday fun with Lesley

Heather reading to Victoria's class about a crocodile getting a lumpy skin - look at the raptous audience!

Kara off to a party in her new outfit - beautiful
\

Victoria ice skating, love the gloves and the concentrating face!

Kara in her ice skating class - a bit far away to get a good shot!

Robert you would do your nut about the bakkies here - and they are even larger than this, at times!

Heather on the ski lift - very impressed she can get off these lifts with these planks/floorboards attached to her rapper boots!!

Kara and Leon on ski lift waiting for the photographer to do their video of their famous moves!

Kara skiing down the mountain - not too sure if she is happy or just concentrating but cool any way!

At a diner having wine with mango juice, lemon and ice - the girls loved their chocolate bomb.....

Leon doing his moves - cool cool customer!!

Heather does an international evening on Friday - this time was a Mexican Evening.

Leon's new super dupa bike arrived and the girls were too excited for words

Went to the local pub called Black Swan and watched a blues band - had plenty of chicken wings too!

Lovely fire in the lovely fireplace!

What Victoria always wanted for Christmas!!!! but she is very good at it too

On the ferry to Statton Island to see Statue of Liberty - what a shocker how small the statue actually is!!!!!!!!!

Kara in her new Kate Moss skirt - and the pose

Victoria, well what can we say - runs her nose up and down the disgusting windows and manages to get us into fits of laughter.

For me, the most heartwarming sight - can you imagine riding this down 5th Ave New York and the pug type dog in the buggy.

Victoria's invention - paper thin and completely fold away - watch this space Apple!!

Victoria at the police museum and she is only 4 feet tall! But no smiling allowed.

The box the bike came in and look at their innovation - cut out a section to watch TV with the rest of us.

The memorial site at 9/11 - interesting!!

Look at this idea - and never having to loose your gloves

Leaving Statton Island on the ferry

On the

The diner where we had breakfast - andthe hugest omlette I have ever seen but delicious!

The Banana Lady, you push the button underneath and she dances and sings about Bananas - this is in Stew Leonard's

The celery and lettuce display - what fun, it makes for a very noisy shop with all these exhibits

Check those brinjals, Doug you would have had a ball here, told you, you should have come with!!!

And how about these tomatoes!!!!!!!!!! Gobsmackingly beautiful!!!

Another dancing display, needless to say, the kids love shopping here and there are tasty taster snacks all around the place

and next to the fridge counter - the cow!@!!! It also sings

And the trolleys have spaces for the Starbucks coffee!!!!!

Saugatuk River that flows through the town, and check out all the trees, still do not know what they are!!!!

The all and very American postbox with the flag!!

The sign for the bus to know that there are children in this house - Heather's house - that there are Heather's children to be picked up by the big yellow bus

This is Heather's neighbour's house, not too shabby hey!!!

A view of Heathers bedroom, love love these floors!!!!!

Look at the size of this bedroom with the picture window, just fantastic - can really like!!

Hysterical, the all American - again town, but Guguletu or Diepsloot has the same wiring, wonder if they "borrow"from Eskom too!!

Another picture of the river that runs through it

Lots of houses have the flag flying - we do too, must get Heather to put a pic here of our flag flying in Blue Hills, Johannesburg.
